The camera obscura, despite it's first impression as being a olden age device of which to take pictures, takes the most wonderful unique pictures I have ever seen. Through the use of a camera obscura in a tent on the beach, Abe Morell transformed a picture of what would have been just a simple beach picture, to a whole different level on which the ground was incorporated into the photo, adding a heightened sense of actual being there. The second picture illustrates just how he was able to achieve this unique and elegant photo. Being able to actually recreate a version of what he did in class today was amazing. It was a little different since we had a white cardboard piece of paper, but it was just as fascinating stepping into the tent and having a crisp projected view of the grass and trees and occasional persons who happened to walk by, upside down since we didn't have a mirror to reflect it right side up. This style of photography Morell used, is so beautiful and captivating.
